With the successful delivery of two new auxiliary ventilation fans, TLT-Turbo GmbH is continuing its long-standing cooperation with K+S AG at the Zielitz mine. The new fans support the supply of fresh air to the working areas and help ensure reliable ventilation as the mine continues to expand.
As the mine has continued to expand and the working areas have been extended, the requirements for fresh-air supply underground have increased. In order to reliably provide the required airflow volumes in the newly developed areas, the existing mine ventilation concept had to be expanded.
This is not a new challenge for the mine operator. K+S and TLT-Turbo have been working together for many years to further develop the mine ventilation system.

For more than thirty years, K+S has relied on TLT-Turbo ventilation solutions at the Zielitz mine. Since their installation, the main mine fans have provided reliable primary ventilation and form the basis for safe and efficient mine operation.
As the mine continued to expand, TLT-Turbo supplied new auxiliary ventilation fans for the Zielitz West area in 2014. Following successful commissioning, performance measurements confirmed the system's operating reliability.
As mining conditions and ventilation requirements evolved in the years that followed, the system was continuously adapted - including an upgrade to the West auxiliary fans' performance, enabling higher airflow and a dependable fresh-air supply under changing operating conditions.
Continued mine expansion brought the next major milestone: the delivery and commissioning of Main Mine Fan 4. Once again, TLT-Turbo carried out the follow-up performance measurements and supported K+S in optimizing the overall system.
This ongoing collaboration has given both partners a deep, shared understanding of the operational demands and infrastructure of Zielitz mine - a foundation that continues to pay off with every new project.
As mining activity expanded into new areas in the southwest, ventilation routes grew significantly longer. To ensure a reliable supply of fresh air to these more distant working areas, the existing ventilation system needed to be expanded.
Drawing on the established main mine fans and decades of site-specific expertise, TLT-Turbo developed a technically optimized solution: two new auxiliary ventilation fans, purpose-built to integrate seamlessly into the existing infrastructure and extend fresh-air supply along the newly developed sections of the mine.
Beyond the technical design, operational reliability was a central focus throughout the project. Close collaboration between K+S and TLT-Turbo allowed requirements to be identified early and translated into a solution that accounts for both current operations and future mine development.
With the successful commissioning of the two new auxiliary fans, K+S and TLT-Turbo have taken another important step toward ensuring efficient, reliable mine ventilation for years to come.
K+S's decision to once again commission TLT-Turbo rests on more than fan performance alone. Just as important are the long-standing partnership, direct support from Germany-based contacts, fast response times for service needs, and reliable availability of spare parts and technical expertise.
Stefan Seibert, Project Manager at TLT-Turbo, sums up the key to this success:
"We have supported this site for many years and have a deep understanding of mine’s requirements. That allows us to go beyond simply supplying individual fans - we work together with the customer to continuously adapt the ventilation system as the mine develops."
For the mine operator, this means having one dedicated partner across the entire equipment lifecycle - from planning and commissioning to performance measurement, system optimization, and future expansion.
Added to this is the assurance of ventilation technology "Made in Germany." The combination of technical expertise, high product quality, and long-term service support forms the foundation of a truly sustainable partnership.
As one of Germany's last major mining companies, K+S faces particular long-term challenges in mine ventilation.
TLT-Turbo looks forward to continuing this partnership - supporting the ongoing development of Zielitz's ventilation infrastructure with technical expertise and dependable, long-term service.
