Some of the cookies we use are deleted again when the browser session ends, i.e. when you close your browser (“session cookies”). Other cookies remain on your device and enable us to recognise your browser the next time you visit the website (“persistent cookies”).
Most browsers are set up to accept cookies automatically. However, you can change these settings. You therefore have the option to modify your web browser in such a way that you are always informed about the occurrence of cookies, enabling you to accept or reject them, and also to delete existing cookies.

5. Use of the web analytics tool “Matomo” (formerly “Piwik”):
Our website uses Matomo (https://matomo.org/), an open-source web analytics application for analysing visitor access to our website. Matomo uses so-called “cookies”, which are text files stored on your computer that make it possible to analyse your use of the website. The information on your use of this website generated by the cookie is stored on our servers in Germany and not passed on to third parties. Your IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and before it is stored.
You can prevent installation of the cookies by making the appropriate setting in your browser; however, we want to point out that if you do so, you may not be able to use all the functions of our website in their entirety.
You can also object to the use of your data by Matomo by making use of the possibility described below:
In this process, a cookie is stored in your browser that only contains the information indicating that Matomo is not allowed to collect any data about you. Cookies that have already been stored previously will then be deleted. However, if you subsequently delete all the cookies in your browser, you will have to object again to your data being used.
You can decide here whether a unique web analytics cookie is allowed to be stored in your browser, allowing us to capture and analyse various items of statistical data. If you wish to reject this, you can click on the link below to store the Matomo deactivation cookie in your browser.
Our use of the aforementioned web analytics tool is based on article 6 section 1 subsection f) of the GDPR: processing is undertaken to analyse usage behaviour and is therefore necessary in order to safeguard our legitimate interests.
